Take-out dinner a huge success!

Peggy Silva | April 18, 2013

Thank you to all teams, parents and players who participated in our take-out dinner fundraiser.  For the past four (4) years, HYSL has had this take-out dinner in order to generate much needed funds to assist our softball program in securing a home, complete with bathrooms, parking and the convenience of a concession stand.  This year, we finally did it!  It took six (6) long years and countless hours at meetings with the City of Hanford – City Council, Parks and Recreation Department and Parks and Recreation Commission, but we have all of our softball divisions (6U-16U) at the softball complex.  HYSL is proud to announce a new partnership with the City of Hanford and the Parks and Recreation Department at the softball complex and the improvements scheduled to occur over the course of the next couple of years.  HYSL is now responsible for watering, dragging fields, picking-up trash, cleaning bathrooms, dumping garbage and blowing off the cement – nightly.  The complex has never looked so good and the fields look better than when they were brand new.  City of Hanford sports coordinator, Junior Parriera and HYSL are working together to ensure it stays pristine.

We have pushed for two (2) additional fields on Centennial Drive, shade structures, bullpens and a playground.  This year, the Parks and Recreation Department has asked for the funds to build these two (2) additional full size, youth, softball fields, shade structures and a playground.  HYSL will begin construction on bullpens on Field 5 in the next couple of weeks.  It is our hope that the softball complex will be complete with bullpens on all fields before the start of the 2014 softball season.  We are also looking to install batting cages that will be available to our teams during the softball season.  All and all, HYSL has fought hard to get make these positive changes and changes are occurring.  We are thankful for the generosity of the City of Hanford and the Parks and Recreation Department and their commitment to our softball program.

THANK YOU TO ALL OF THE SUPPORTERS OF HYSL FOR MAKING ALL OF THESE CHANGES POSSIBLE FOR OUR SOFTBALL PLAYERS!

Hanford Flames summer travel ball tryouts

Peggy Silva | April 18, 2013

HYSL is proud to announce the tryout dates for their own, Hanford Flames summer travel ball program.  Hanford Flames is a long established travel ball program that has finished in the top in qualifying championship play.  Our teams have qualified for ASA Regional and National appearances four years in a row.   HYSL could not be prouder of its summer travel ball program; the Hanford Flames 10U’s, 12U’s and 14U’s have made made appearances at ASA Regional’s and Nationals for the past three years.  The memories made by these players and comradery gain is priceless.  Exchanging pins with out-of-state teams, announcement of your team during opening ceremony or parading in Grizzlie Stadium or Petco Park are some of the most exciting moments a young player will have.

Our program offers players and teams the opportunity to obtain tax deductible donations and sponsorshipsto help offset expenses related to tournament fees and costs associated with playing travel ball.  If your player wants to continue playing softball in a competitive travel ball program, make sure she attends at least (2) all-star tryouts at the scheduled dates.  All players are encouraged to attend all four (4) tryouts to show the coach your player is committed to the program and ensure the best possible tryout.  All-star tryouts will be held at the Softball Complex and as follows:

MAY 4, 2013 8U:  9:00 a.m. -10:30 a.m.
  10U:  10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
  12U:  12:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
  14U:  2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

MAY 5, 2013 8U:  9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
  10U:  10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
  12U:  12:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
  14U:  2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

MAY 11, 2013 8U:  9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
  10U:  10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
  12U:  12:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
  14U:  2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

MAY 12, 2013 8U:  9:00 a.m. – 10:30 p.m.
  10U:  10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
  12U:  12:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
  14U:  2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

This year, HYSL league is looking forward to assisting all all-star teams with uniform and equipment expenses.  On April 2, 2013, the City Council of the City of Hanford, awarded HYSL with bid for the concession stand at the Softball Complex.  As a result, HYSL will have the opportunity to generate funds that can assist our travel ball program.  The financial support HYSL is hoping to provide to its teams means more softball and less fundraising.  We are so excited to be able to do this for our teams this year!!!!!

If you have any questions regarding all-star tryouts, tournaments, expenses involved, dates, please feel free to contact one of the HYSL board members at any time.

GO HANFORD FLAMES! FLAMES ARE ON FIRE!

Results and Standings for upper divisions

Peggy Silva | April 15, 2013

As we enter the third week of league games, the teams are all neck-and-neck with wins and losses.  It’s exciting to see the teams so balanced and the scores so close.  All of our coaches are doing a great job coaching the game, providing positive mechanical instruction and game ready techniques.  There is not a weak team out there and it’s any one’s game depending on the day.

Check the results link to see the scores between teams and the standings link to see where your team is right now in your age division.  HYSL will do its best to update the night after the games are played.  For the 10U’s, 12U’s and 16U’s, teams will be seeded by where the team finishs in league.  The 8U’s will be by public blind draw after the last 8U game on Thursday, April 25th at the softball complex.  The league tournament starts the week of April 29th for the 8U’s, 10U”s and 12U’s.  The 16U’s will start their tournament the week of May 7th.   The tournament is double-elimination.  The blank tournament schedules will be posted by the end of the week April 19th, if not before.

Hanford Flames Allstar program a success in 2012!

Peggy Silva | November 28, 2012

Congratulations to our 10U, 12U and 14U B teams for qualifying for the 2012 Western Nationals.  The 10U team participated in the Western National event held in Spokane, Washington, and made a strong showing of what valley softball is all about. A week long event where all the players participated in pin exchanges and had the opportunity to mingle with softball players from the western hemisphere.  After all the fun on opening day, serious softball was underway for the rest of the week.  Great job to our 10U team!  HYSL cannot thank manager, Noel Shipp, coaches, Rob Moffit, Carlos Castallaneous, Rodney Moffit and Jennifer Vikjord enough for giving up their entire summer to make the 2012 summer a summer these girls will never forget.  Your endless practices, fundraising and encouragment has imprinted in these girls memory bank and will remain there forever.  Thank you for all your hard work.

A special congratulations to our 12U C team and our first year all-star coach, Elizabeth Wright, for qualifying and attending the 2012 Regionals at the State Games in San Diego and representing what the valley has to bring to socal softball.  A special thank you to all of the parents and players that worked hard to raise funds so the players could attend this once in a lifetime event!  The girls had the opportunity to exchange pins with other teams and play four days of hard-hitting softball.  Great job girls!
